Starting the Jouney to Find MLM Leads

Multilevel Marketing, or MLM lead generation is probably one of the most challenging obstacles a new network marketer faces. With every new endeavor we take, there is going to be a learning curve and certain personal and professional obstacles to overcome. Calling MLM leads is one of these curves that you may or may not have expected when you signed up for your opportunity.

Here is one of our stories about a person’s experience with calling MLM leads:

Andrea’s first experience with Multilevel Marketing was with Mary Kay. Her recruiter (upline) told her to make a list of her “warm” market and call them up to let them know what she was doing and to see if there was any interest for them to begin to build a business as well. Andrea hated calling her warm market, feeling like this was hassling her friends and family. In addition to feeling a little embarrassed when talking to those closest to her, Andrea also was met with a lot of discouraging words. While most of her family and friends may have meant well, they too had already been approached and or “burned” by an MLM opportunity in the past. Andrea became discouraged and slowly but surely quit trying to build a business.

This is just one story and does not have to be yours. We recommend not calling your warm market, at least right away. Although this is a free form of MLM lead generation, it can add to the obstacles you may feel when entering into a new business arena of which you will have to learn all the other ropes as you go at the same time.

So how do you find those initial leads without incurring the cost of purchasing leads? This is a good question, and exactly what this site is intended for: to give you some great ideas on how to economically get started with calling, emailing, or writing to MLM leads.

Here are just a few tips to get you started:

1.Talk to your upline, recruiter, or sponsor and ask them how they got started. Duplicate their success! (Now they may have called their warm market, and if so, ask how it really worked for them. Listen, see what you can learn, and if it seems to fit your style, then go for it!)

2.See if your recruiter provides free leads you can call. Many will give you a certain amount of leads per day or week. This is a great free way to get started.

3.Ask your recruiter about some of the lead companies that give you a certain amount of leads for free the first month. Usually with these you just have to make sure you cancel before 30 days so your credit card is not charged for the next month.

4.Start interacting on forums. WAHM.com is one site where you can not only discuss MLM lead generation, but where you can also GET leads. You don’t want to sound like an advertisement, but you want to try and use “attraction” marketing, or web 2.0 tactics (we will go into depth about this in future posts).

When you are just starting out in network marketing, finding MLM leads that are free or affordable can be a done if you seek out and ask the right questions. If you start out on the right foot with MLM, you will be sure to build a large, profitable business filled with quality recruits that will duplicate your success!
